By now many of you know that I have entered the Men’s Health and Kenneth Cole search for “The Ultimate Men’s Health Guy” They are looking for a guy who is physically fit, confident, stylish, career driven and a pillar in the community he lives in. The winner will be featured on the cover of the November issue of Men’s Health Magazine. At this moment I feel I am at a good place in life, andI meet all of the criteria they are looking for so I decided to go for it. And to use this blog post to provide you the history behind my decision and help to earn your vote.
The final decision to enter the contest and put myself out there on an international level didn’t come easy. I took a lot into consideration before I committed to representing my community, my friends, and my family. I also considered what if anything I could offer to those people who don’t know me, but who’s support I am dependent on. Furthermore I had to consider if I was entering the contest for the right reasons. The process took me a couple of months and it then became very clear… I have what it takes to fulfill the responsibility I was about to subject myself to, and I was doing it for the right reasons. To make it very clear….I am NOT in this contest for self validation and recognition of my accomplishments. Rather I am in this contest to pay it forward, share what I’ve learned, what I do that works for me, so that it can inspire others to be their best and do the same.
Setting up to Officially Enter The Contest
The contest only allows for 3 pictures on the entry form. So it was super important to get the right kind of photos. And deep inside I knew my contest entry had to have an edge that was uniquely mine but yet told the story. As a well known Realtor here in Delray Beach Florida, I had planned on having some marketing photos taken of myself to help my business. When I met Chelsea Erwin a local photographer, we immediately clicked so I told her of my idea and plan to enter the contest. Chelsea was immediately was on board with her support and enthusiasm to photograph the photos I would need for the contest. She told me she would give it some thought and come up with a plan for a photo shoot. A few days later I heard back from Chelsea, as she unfolded her plan for the photo shoot – it was perfect. We’d combine the marketing photos with the contest photos using the city of Delray Beach as the backdrop. With the photo shoot scheduled, I called Tom…
Thomas Taylor is my personal trainer and friend. When we met, I was at the lowest point in my life, beaten down by life’s circumstances. I lost track of who I was or where I was going to go. Tom began our training with one of his many unique approaches, he helped me get inside myself, to train my body from within my mind. It was through that exercise that I began to realize being fit is so much more than bulging muscles. It was about Mind Body and Spirit. Soon after I started training I suddenly found myself feeling terrific and began to participate in life again. I also started to apply the principles I learned in the gym to my everyday life. The results were pretty tremendous. So when I told Tom of my plan to enter the contest he was very supportive. I should also note he has been witness to a few of my “plans” and he clearly knows that I have capability to accomplish anything I set my mind to. We scheduled training sessions accordingly and he gave me further instruction on diet, so that on the day of the photo shoot my physique would photograph well.
Can I have your support and vote?
As you can see, from this short synapse of my decision to enter the contest, things sort of fell into place. And yes, there is still so much more for me to share with you. I am committed to do that, and will share what I’ve learned to help you. I begin to fulfill this commitment on my contestant entry page where I share tips to start your day right, my 10 Principles of Healthy Living and I share my thoughts on Success.
The next couple of weeks are pretty important I need votes in order to for the judges to even consider my contest entry. 20% of my contest entry is dependent on your help. It seems like a very small percentage, but without it – they aren’t able to consider my application. Help me get there by casting a vote (daily if you want) and spread the word. It costs nothing and takes just a few seconds. Click here to cast your vote now. Thank you for your support!
